Where Three Routes Meet in Eagleville

Heavy Duty Towing Eagleville covers a small town with a big junction. Eagleville had 813 residents at the 2020 census and sits in western Rutherford County. US 41A, SR 99 and SR 269 all meet here, and heavy trucks use all three. When one stops, call (615) 880-9643.

The junction, mile by mile

The SR 269 route description marks Eagleville in two places. At about mile 2.6, SR 269 meets US 41A and SR 16, and the two share a road. About half a mile later, US 41A and SR 16 split away and SR 99 joins SR 269 until about mile 8.5. SR 99 also meets US 41A at a Y-intersection in town. A driver can follow one sign and end up on a different highway within a mile, and a long truck can struggle with that turn. Tell us what the sign says.

A town with a long memory

Eagleville was settled in 1790 and founded in 1832 under the name Manchester. When a post office opened in 1836 it took the name Eagleville, because Manchester was already taken. Local lore says the name came from an unusually large eagle killed nearby. The area belonged to Williamson County until 1877, when it joined Rutherford County, after Williamson County declined to build a road to Franklin. The town was incorporated in 1977.

A small town with municipal growth

Eagleville completed a sewer system in 2015 that cost $3.1 million, funded by a low-interest loan and a USDA grant. New sewer service tends to bring construction, and construction brings dump trucks, equipment haulers and concrete trucks onto roads built for lighter traffic. That is the main heavy-duty pattern here: job-site trucks and delivery trucks, not a big plant.

US 41A through the middle

US 41A runs between Shelbyville and Eagleville and continues into the southwest part of Rutherford County, according to the route article. Trucks that take this road instead of the interstate include local haulers and equipment moving between sites. A truck that stalls at the Y-intersection can block more than one road, so the dispatcher will want to know which leg you are on.

What helps us find you

  • The road you were on, and the sign you last passed
  • Whether you are at the junction, in town or out on a stretch of road
  • Rig type, weight and whether it carries equipment
  • Whether you are blocking traffic or on the shoulder
  • A callback number and who is paying

The dispatcher answers 24/7. The arrival estimate you hear on the call is an honest one.

East and west of the junction

Headed east, SR 99 runs through Rockvale and reaches I-24 at exit 80 in Murfreesboro. Headed east on SR 269, the next major crossing is US 231 in Christiana, which the route description puts at about mile 18.7, roughly 16 miles past the Eagleville mark at mile 2.6. SR 269 is two lanes the whole way and crosses the West Fork of the Stones River on a bridge near mile 16.9. West on SR 99 you leave Rutherford County and enter Marshall County near Chapel Hill. For a long rig, every one of those directions means rural two-lane road, so tell us which way you were headed.
